Hawkes Bay Homestead Garden venue.

Between the Gwavas Garden Homestead and the edge of the spectacular gardens is a wide, flat lawn – a perfect backdrop for elegant marquees as a venue for your outdoor wedding or special event.

The woodland gardens are at their most spectacular in spring and summer and are based on the Carlyons’  family home of Tregrehan in Cornwall. They are listed as a “registered group of historic trees” with the Royal New Zealand Institute of Horticulture.

There are a huge variety of locations for wedding or party photos within the garden.

Gwavas Garden has a fully licensed commercial kitchen. We can cater for small gatherings, or you are welcome to bring in your caterers.  We have a list of suppliers we can highly recommend if required.  We are fully licensed, or you may BYO (corkage applies).

We are 30 minutes drive south from Hastings on State Highway 50. Limited accommodation is available in the Homestead.

Please note, this is a peaceful venue and not suitable for stag/hen nights.

Central Hawke

There are two main towns in Central Hawke’s Bay – Waipukurau and Waipawa – with a number of smaller townships including Otane, Takapau, Tikokino, Porangahau and Ongaonga; as well as several beach townships including Kairakau, Pourerere, Aramoana, Blackhead and Te Paerahi.

State Highway 2 runs through the centre of Central Hawke’s Bay leading south to Palmerston North and the Wairarapa and north to Hastings and Napier.
