Waipawa Central Hawke’s Bay, theatre venue

For over 100 years Central Hawke’s Bay history has been happening in the CHB Municipal Theatre. This iconic building in Waipawa has been recently beautifully restored and it is a place of performing arts, community gatherings, business functions, celebrations and education.

The Stephenson Transport Auditorium is the main theatre of the pair in the building (see also the CHB Municipal Theatre Concert Chamber). It seats 140 upstairs in the dress circle and 200 downstairs in the stalls. For a cafe style gathering downstairs 160 can sit around rectangular tables.

This state of the art theatre is well equipped with a full fly, 10m x 10m stage, orchestra pit, modern sound and light box and tech desk, dressing rooms, plus a full screen and projector for presentations.

The CHB Municipal Theatre has a full bar and is licensed until midnight. An industrial catering kitchen is available: ask for our in house options or bring your own caterers.

Please enquire for prices for extended hours, catering and additional services or reduced rates for community groups.
