This beautiful historic building interior is spacious gallery with a mezzanine floor encircling the room and an art deco feel, high ceiling and lovely lighting. Large windows in the front façade, windows in the upper level and a stained glass ceiling give a touch of old fashioned class.
The most striking feature of the interior is the central staircase, reputedly inspired by Parisian department stores of the early 1900s. It provides a good natural stage for a presentation.
Since 1991, the building has been the home of Arts Inc Heretaunga (previously Creative Hastings) and has undergone significant restoration work to bring it back to its former glory.
This exhibition space is available to hire for suitable events: book launches, art talks, awards and presentations, poetry readings.
