Wellington Central, historic venue
Built around 1875, Dransfield House has an historic charm, with the high ceilings and beautifully proportioned rooms of the colonial era. The well restored house has a fascinating history that reflects the make up of Wellington itself – part salubrious as home to the first mayor of Wellington and occasionally not so respectable (ask the owners!)
Now this beautiful house is a grand wedding and occasion venue, with a ballroom, lunch or break out room, and elegant bar, with an alcove in the spire. There’s a baby grand in the ball room and an upright piano in the bar. The house is at the foot of Brooklyn Hill at the end of Aro Valley set back from the road – a pocket of old Wellington in a modern city. There are verandahs, a small patio and sunken garden.
The House is fully licensed until 3am.
