Wellington Central, venue
The Adam Art Gallery at Victoria University is a contemporary, purpose-built gallery designed by award-winning architect Ian Athfield.
The main galleries are: Congreve & Upper Chartwell Gallery (200 standing), Kirk Gallery (50 standing), Lower Chartwell (70 standing), supplemented by connecting foyers and stairs. Total exhibition area over three levels is 350 sqm.
There is disabled access to all spaces.
We welcome relevant enquiries for events that fit in with the function of this centre, outside of gallery opening hours. In the past we have hosted weddings and cocktail parties, book launches, meetings, music events and lectures. It is a working art gallery, and the primary consideration is our artists’ work.
If serving alcohol, you must hire a duty manager via Vic Venues to serve at your event. Vic Venues holds the Victoria University of Wellington liquor license and therefore has the responsibility of controlling all events where alcoholic beverages are offered within the University premises.
The gallery is a wonderful space for mingling and meeting within an art and design or academic environment.
We offer special rates for University use and non-profits. Enquire for details.
